overview
All students will be engaged in a yearly curriculum based on health and fitness while playing various sports, games and activities. Students begin every class with a warmup and this may include a timed run, a distance run, specific movement patterns (high knees, grapevines, skips, hops...etc), and stretching. Upon completion of the warmup, all students will get a 3-4 minute water break. Students may use the water fountain outside of the gymnasium or they may bring in their own water bottle from home. If water bottles are brought in to class, the only liquid that is allowed is water. This is because other liquids are very difficult to clean up in case of a spill and we are also trying to convey a message of smart, healthy choices and sugary drinks; even "sports drinks" are neither. Students will then start the planned lesson from the curriculum. The total class time is 57 minutes.
